Overall Surgery Process Information and Steps to Get Cleared and Scheduled for Weight Loss Surgery
1. Complete the Approval Form
Begin by filling out our surgery approval form at https://longtermvsg.com/apply-for-surgery. We will review your application and respond with surgery clearance and instructions within 24 hours. Be sure to check your spam folder if you don’t see our email.
2. Schedule Your Surgery Date
Once approved, contact us to schedule your surgery date:

3. Secure Your Surgery Date
To confirm your surgery date, a deposit is required:
- $350 for Gastric Sleeve.
- $450 for Gastric Bypass, Mini Bypass, or Revision Surgery.
Note: Deposit amounts may vary if a promotional offer is available. Payments can be made via:
- Zelle
- Credit Card Online (2.9% processing fee applies)
4. Pay the Remaining Balance
The balance is due upon your arrival at the hospital. Payment options include:
- Cash
- Credit Card (3% processing fee applies)
You can combine payment methods to reduce credit card fees.
5. Receive Pre- and Post-Surgery Instructions
Once your surgery is confirmed, we’ll send detailed instructions to help you prepare for your procedure and recovery.
Who Qualifies for Weight Loss Surgery?
To qualify, your BMI must be between 30 and 70. Patients with a BMI over 50 will incur an additional fee of $250 to $500 USD.

Our modern surgical facilities are located in Tijuana, Mexico, at Dreams Hospital and New Me Hospital, just 20 minutes from the San Diego, CA airport.

Pre-Surgery Instructions
- Fasting: Stop eating at midnight before surgery. You may have small sips of water to moisten your mouth.
- Follow instructions: Carefully review pre-op guidelines, especially regarding medications.
- Pack light: Bring loose, comfortable clothing, slippers, and personal hygiene items. Avoid traveling with expensive jewelry or items.
- Travel documents: Bring your passport. If you don’t have one, bring a birth certificate and a valid ID. Failure to provide proper documentation may result in delays.

Driver Pickup – Surgery Day
- Arrive at the airport no later than 10 AM. The driver will take you directly to the hospital.
What to Expect: Surgery & Recovery
Surgery Day (Admission Day):
- Upon arrival, Dr. Axel (assistant doctor) will meet you.
- Pre-op testing (bloodwork, EKG) and evaluation by an internal medicine doctor will be completed.
- Surgery (e.g., Gastric Sleeve) typically takes 35–45 minutes. Afterward, you will rest and recover in your hospital room under 24/7 monitoring by the nursing staff.
Recovery Day (Second Night):
- Rest in your hospital room. A leak test and additional labs will be conducted to ensure proper recovery. Walking in the halls is encouraged to relieve gas.
Release Day:
- On the final morning, you’ll be discharged (usually around 8–9 AM).
- Our driver will take you to San Diego Airport for your return flight. Allow extra time for border crossing.
